Some would argue that instead of understanding cultural and economic differences between societies and embracing and educating eachother, by forcefully claiming land which is the home to a different group of people and so gradually eradicating the indigenous people's cultural history and identity 'you' are being incredibly uncivilised. Effective video, it humanizes the issue ( which is not peculiar to America ). I've been thinking of spending Christmas eve on the street in my area, where the temperatures frequently sink to - 30 with the wind chill and filming my experience for a similar video. The big lie - the majority of people on the street or in need of assistance are lazy. Ridiculous. Its human nature to thrive and to be self-sufficient: If this wasn't the case, you would have an unemployment rate of 50 percent, not 6. Many of these people have paid taxes for years and years. Social security is an insurance policy for an entire country: If a large portion of people have no vested interest in the establishment, the more likely it will descend into social chaos i.e., dissolution.

Yes, I can see that you are right. The system is rigged in favour of the corporations and against the people. It's sick, and is a complete betrayal of trust. People think that they vote in elections for candidates who will govern in their best interests. I've seen one freind go through the SS ringers, and another the "workers compensation" racket. The WC title has fraud built into it. It should be accurately called the 'employer lawsuit prevention/protection insurance'. Seriously, in 4 yrs time, the rent doesn't get paid, losing all personal belongings. The car insurance goes unpaid, losing the car registration and eventual towing to an impound yard with debt building by the day there. A rigged system of delays put people to the streets.

Rosafanta, I see those with 'faith' as a major cause of the homeless issue. They have that 'every man for himself' mental block which ignores the social nature of man. The moral health of a society can be judged by how well it takes care of those who cannot take care of themselves. There is an attitude in the US of 'Every man for himself'. A relic from the pioneer days I suppose. What this results in now is a pervasive sickness that sees helpless people as failures and losers to be despised. Local communities don't want to help. If they did then the nations homeless will flood to that community. This is a national issue and needs to be fixed on a national level. I know someone very close that would have been on the streets while he awaited the system of Social Security. A contract he paid into for years, takes years to get moving in the right direction with the repeated denials of coverage. No actual change in his condition, magically that third time he applies for SS he gets it.

In the country Im in, so far not much violence against the homeless, but it is still an ignored problem by the government. & a growing situation. I think I made it clear why the two issues are NOT blurred. Number one, the percentage of homeless VETS is higher than the percentage of VETS in the general population. Number two, there is a direct connection between our economic strife and the lunatic overspending on the ILLEGAL Iraq War and other so-called "defense" spending. No "blurring" of issues at all. There are two issues in the video - Homelessness and the war. Focus on the homeless issue. I was homeless before joining the service. Went to the first Iraq conflict, and was homeless when I returned to the US. It was hard work and a lot of luck to go from zero to where I am now. The homeless are very real people with very real issues. If you really want to get your message out, Mr. Goodspeed, please do not blur non-homeless political issues and the reality of this problem. 5-Star vid :)

I taped this man in Downtown Los Angeles a while back. I've been back to see if he's still around, but I never saw him again. Anyway, his voice is incredible and to be there was even better. I think, personally, he has just as much talent if not more than any singer out today. And soul, don't even get me started. Please enjoy.

Maybe one thing alot of people over look is the fact that maybe half these people are not hung up on record deals, fame or fortune. But theyare doing it because it's what they want to do. When you do something you enjoy solely for the satisfaction and disregard all other opertunities, than that is the clearest definition of love and devotion.
