Good advice, witzkey! Aside from your own situation, the individual competence of physicians varies greatly. The US may have the latest in technology, touted as the 'best' in the world - but it depends on the interpretation of test results, where the decision making comes in. Most importantly, it is also an issue of ACCESS to care, which is totally inadequate, due to high co-pays etc. - so people simply opt out, because they cannot afford the treatment. I have a video follow-up in the works..

A friend of mine was positively diagnosed with bowel cancer shortly after switching from his regular physician (they had previously fobbed him off, insisting his symptoms were merely the cause of a mild stomach ulcer). It's easy to put doctors on a pedestal because of the degree and title. 15 years of single parenting taught me that finding a good doctor is just like finding a good mechanic, you just gotta shop around. You should have your new doctor request all of your records, including lab reports.

I jammed my left elbow when I was 14. Doc took x-rays...found nothing. Few months later and I still couldn't straighten my arm. Turns out it was fractured and by then had healed all f'ed up. Could have been prevented beforehand but by then it was too late. Went to 4 surgeons, got 4 completely different opinions. Eventually had surgery...still can't straighten the arm, and it sounds all crunchy when I move it...sucks. Doctors suck.

great advice i know there are any hypocondriacs in our society but those people tend to be more vigilent about symptoms and their own health., i have a doctor who always tells me i am fine i dont think about my health much because i have a false sense of ease. always get a second opinion., never trust the jusdgement of any professional, always question and get educated on the subject.., happy new year witzkeyman, im glad you got that second opinion

But I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. I get written copies of all lab exams and test (like stress test, xrays etc). I use the internet extensively. ON top of that I'm pretty vocal about them ordering unnecessary blood test as well that raise the price to insurance companies. Demand written results of all tests and follow up with research on the internet.

Well I did it the wrong way. Had doctors that I didn't care for as a kid, in the military, and afterwards. Got fed up stop seeing them except for injuries. Went 30 years that way. Not a good decision. Playing catch up now. However when I started to see doctors again I shopped around. Interviewed them first and if I didn't like any part of the interview I didn't bother going back. I'm still not overly impressed with who I have.

My father is 73 and he has had heart problems off and on for years. First he felt weak, and so they put stints in his arteries and he got better. Now he is weak again and the xrays showed his stints were fine, but the walls of his heart are weak. So now they have him on strong medicine that is supposed to strengthen his heart, but it seems to be making him sicker. So they might have to operate on him and put in a defibulator. I find that if I do my own research first,then visit the doctor I can ask more educated questions that will make them more inquisitive. My encounters have been mostly with my two children with the doctors though.They do seem very quick to say you are OK,and draw blood to never call you back, or tell you the results.I always demand a copy of the blood work report from the labs to ensure for myself what is going on.Then I research on my own to see if the doctor made a large error.

I work in a hospital, I know that we have some of the BEST doctors in the world here in the US, not to mention hospitals like the Mayo Clinic. We train so many from around the world here. But, even with that said, there are some real piss-poor docs out there! ALWAYS stay onto of your own healthcare is my advice, always ask for your results, and always ask questions, and when your not getting answers, seek another doc! good vlog my friend...sound advice!

The problem I ran into most often in huge corporation was that there was a "tickle down" effect in that the CEOs practiced unethical & imoral busines activities. I owned my own business before Reagan took over. It was the happiest time of my life. I lost that business in the 80s recession & went to work for a mega-corporation. I say in order to get back on the gold standard, we would have to pretty much scrap the whole system and start fresh with a new money. 1 greenback = 1 ounce of gold on today's date (assign the value). Extended warranties? USELESS! The last time I bought a new car I gave them my cash price, they started to argue, I looked at my watch & told them that my price was what I'd pay & they had 20 minutes to complete the entire deal or I ws leaving. They looked at each other for a second then started scurrying. I left in 18 minutes...with the car freshly washed (and a full tank of gas). I dicker with set store prices in electronic stores. It almost ALWAYS works. ($500 stove for $300) Its a gift.
