Were the weight gain and negative effects because you went back to old habits? Or do you think the effects would have been the same no matter how you broke the fast or what you ate afterward? This is my big dilemma. I've heard breaking a fast is the hardest part for most people and that you will get very sick if you don't engage in a transition period for at least half the number of days that you fasted, like alkaline juice and very plain, bland raw food for about 15 days. Dunno really.

You know what the right thing is too, its just that the negativity you have to deal with is overwhelming at times...I totally believe you know right from wrong with no definitions needed, but maybe a coach would be good - have you thought about getting a personal coach or life coach? You need support to do the right thing most of the time and make it a habit, we all do.

DO THE RIGHT THING RELIGOUSLY, make that your habbit in all areas of your life and you will suffer less, this is a basic law of the universe. Keep in mind that PRESCRIPTION MEDS AND DIET FOODS (SLIMFAST)ARE VERY ACIDIC TO YOUR SYSTEM, and if you used pills - they come out as bile acid. Food devoid of nutrition taken in when you are not hungry but ABUSING yourself, is very toxic - creates toxic energy throughout your system which can get stored and when you detox you will have to face this stored and stuffed negativity later, you always pay later for fast fixes that never work! THAT IS WHAT I MEAN. Of course fasting is all about detox, but its gota to a process not a panacea K. Does this make sense to you yet? I hope you are starting to get it! xoxo

S-L-O-W-L-Y, unless you are also a drama addict! What I mean is its going to be ugly if you dont do it right, and some get off on that too - alot of thinspos, etc on here and "healthfood junkies." You have to get real, and you have to be realistic and do things with your body not shocking it or using and abusing it like its some separate thing from you! Make the connection. Paul Bragg talks about detoxification and fasting and the ugly side too, and when you have taken in toxic energy and matter (fast food lfestyle and mass over consumption cult we live in its hard to avoid) IT IS PAINFUL and ugly when this stuff comes out of you - but its better to get it out however you do it. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND DO NO JUMP IN, you need to learn more about detoxification, the herbs and teas to powerfully aide you and avoid much discomfort, a detox expert would be helpful too.

Natalia Rose particularly recommends spending nearly a year at each level and stepping down into raw diet even over a period of years as you feel metally and phyically ready. You can't go from fast food to raw food overnight w/o discomfort! Experts do not recommend doing that let alone going from fast food to water fasting!

Yes, this "negative stuff" as a result of fasting is from being at higher levels of toxicty. ALL THE EXPERTS recommend almost year long pre-fasting and raw eating process before intensive or long periods of water fasting. For those with toxic life syles "jumping in" to a fast could be deadly. NATALIA ROSE, KATHY FRESTON, DAVID WOLFE, BRIGGETTE MARS, PAUL BRAGG, all PhDs in this and authors have all recommended stepping into a fast by "PRE-FASTING" - veges rice, fruit, then juice, then water.

well it also depends on what you break the fast with. the canker soars are familiar as well. don't break the fast with a hamburger or anything salty you have to slowly SLOWLY re introduce foods back into your body. I lost 150 while fasting for 40 days. I had a baby and gained 70 back about a year later.

Very true. I remember hearing about prisoners of war who were starved so long in the prison camps that they where skeletal. When they were liberated they were given very rich high energy foods like cheese and they just dropped dead from it.

oh, and the vomiting sounds like the body was trying to expell the acids, and what it did not need. it would serve no purpose to keep it around when there is no food to digest and dissolve.

hi sushi, i have to say, it's not just fasting. it's the suddenness of changes. the body adapts to acommodate starches, meats, and salts, and it could kill you to eat all that at once. Karen Carpenter would be an example of that. just wanted to comment on that. thanks for sharing~ I had heard about the bile and vomiting but did not experience that myself in the 10 days.
